“If the world would apologize, I might consider a reconciliation.” Mason Cooley

Though we’re far from alone in our situation – it’s been hard to reconcile what we paid for our house 8 1/2 years ago and what it’s worth today.  Our realtor has been extremely patience with us – cautiously allowing us to list at a higher price than market conditions support – but continuing to bring us back to reality while suggesting creative ways to attract potential buyers.

And attract we have!  I’ve somewhat lost count of the number of showings but we’ve had around 40 since we first listed our house at the end of August.  That’s a lot!  And though we had a signed contract – after several rounds of negotiating – it quickly fell through.

Another offer came in this week which – I thought – was ridiculous and we told our broker to refuse it.  He suggested we stay engaged and counter offer, which we did, but when their counter was only a tab higher than their first offer – he told us to forget about it and the offer would be withdrawn – which it was.

Yet the reality is though we should be able to get more than their offer – we won’t get much more and that’s been hard for me to come to terms with.

It’s also hard for some people to understand why a fabulous used furniture store like Bobs is only open two days each week – yet that’s our reality due to circumstances outside of our control and just like I can fret and fume that it isn’t fair our house is worth less than what we paid for it – really, what’s the point?

Instead let’s celebrate the two days we are open – Fridays from 1 to 8 and Saturdays from 9 to 4!  What follows are photos of some of the new-to-us furniture which was donated this week:

Though I never want to let go of being passionate about helping to correct some of the world’s injustices – one person at a time – I do want to let go of demanding the world, and the housing market, be fair.

With that letting go allows space within me for peace and acceptance – and possibilities previously unconsidered!  And who doesn’t want that, right dear reader?
