DISCERNING FOR DESIGNS - THE DOMINATING INFLUENCE OF MIDCENTURY, SCANDINAVIAN AND DANISH DESIGNS.

There is a growing number of individuals who in their quest to furnish their homes beautifully, are more discerning than ever.  They no longer go for mass produced furniture.  They seek value in terms of quality.  Where wooden furniture is concerned, they are no longer satisfied with plywood, chipboards or veneer.  They insist on solid wood that are finely crafted.  They recognize the value in some vintage pieces of the past - the days when many furniture were made  by master craftsmen who took pride in their works.  The days before the onset of mass consumerism, fine furniture were bespoked and one must have the patience to wait and the furniture was worth waiting for.

With increasing modernity nowadays, the quest for fine vintage pieces has never been stronger.  As less and less of them are circulating, they are being hunted down and become priced possessions  in the hands of  collectors or individuals who simply love them for their quality or sentimentality.

However, the trend nowadays,  is not just about seeking vintage pieces.  There is a great discern now amongst middle and upper class homeowners for designs - good designs, interesting designs, creative designs, experimental designs, eco friendly designs and inspired designs of the past - of which the mid century, scandinavian and danish influences are most dominant. The internet revolution which makes possible easy access to information, images and trends, are inspiring many to be interested in designs and in some cases, becoming designers themselves.

I share below quotes from two hollywood celebrities who like many others, have turned into furniture designs. One of them is Brad Pitt: "I'm drawn to furniture design as complete architecture on a minor scale".  And he has come out with his own line of furniture! Another is  Ellen DeGeneres,  who  has this to say of design:  "Designing is my hobby.  If I didn't do what I do for a living - at some point when I don't do this for a living - I'll probably just do design work.  I love finding really special furniture pieces".

PLEASE NOTE:

1.  All our prices are in Singapore Dollars.  

2.  For bespoke pieces, we need a timeline of 1.5- 2 months. We will submit proper drawing,

     detailing specifications, to avoid misunderstanding.

3.  For restorations and reupholstery works, the timeline is also 1.5-2 months. Faster for loose

     upholstery works such as cushion covers and chair seats that can be hand carry.

4.  Delivery charge within Singapore is free for those above $2000.

5.  For our Malaysian customers, we do not charge transport from Singapore to our shop

     in Kuala Lumpur, but we do charge transport from our shop in KL to your home or office.

6.  For our overseas customers, outside Singapore and Malaysia, we will advise you on the shipping 

     costs. The furniture will come with proper packing materials to protect it against long distance 

     shipment
