DEAR ALL
Allow me this opportunity to wish all of you A Very Happy New Year. May all the best things happen and may all our dreams and hopes realised.
For us, at SECOND CHARM, we are starting the New Year in Singapore, at a new place. After being in an old 1920's shophouse for 8 years, we have moved to a warehouse premis, not far away from our old place. True, the new place doesnt have the charm of an old shophouse, but it is bigger and with better facilities. Space, comfort and better layout is a more important consideration for us, especially with greater demand and interest in our vintage furniture. I still have a few things to clear at the old shop and I have yet to bring down our teakwood shop sign and saying goodbye to my good neighbours who all these years have been tolerating us with our furniture spilling over their space whenever, we have big shipment.
While saying goodbye to an old familiar place is a sad thing, I'm happy to move on. And hope to do better things. So from today onwards, we will be operating at Blk 19 Kallang Avenue, #04-157, Mapletree Industrial Building, Singapore 339410. It is beside PICO Creative Centre (you cant miss it) and just one bus stop from Lavender MRT towards Kallang if you come from the city. It is less than 5 minutes drive from our old shop.
The new place is a corner unit with glass panels on the sides and back. Some tall trees reached our fourth floor. So we get greeneries outside our windows, providing shade and make up for the loss of charm of an old shop house. We are closer to nature here inspite of the modern warehouse. The first time I slided the glass panels, I chanced upon two yellow birds hopping from branch to branch. Somehow I felt, I've come to the right place. So do visit us.
Below are some of our finds the last few weeks. I was busy with the moving and have not been able to put them up sooner. Some have gone out for restoration and will be back on 12 Jan. So here they are:

All in all, year 2010 has been a great year of blogging, of meeting new customers and making new, wonderful friends. Thanks to all the open invitations to your lovely homes. Would have gone to all the housewarming parties, had I not have to be in Kuala Lumpur over the weekends.
To Andrew and Daniel, customers-turned-friends, thanks for the lovely Christmas dinner at Tanglin Club and for the warm conversations. Will visit Andrew soon to see his art deco furniture collections inherited from his grand family.
To Ling and Chin, all the best in the restoration of their conservation house in Penang. I'm sure it will be a grand home. I share your excitement and happy to ship the furniture to Penang.
To Connie, I hope the Manhattan Loft theme will be beautifully realised.
To Tong Marie and Ruth, looking for fine french furniture, I will try my best.
To many others renovating their homes and shops and loving vintage furniture - Sing Ee, Terence, Nonnie, Koh, Han She, Nancy, Michelle, May Yee, Nazariah, Prima, Cindy, Saifudin, Jim, Mahmood, Karen, Krishant - my very best wishes and thank you for coming to Second Charm. Thank you too to some of my oldest and most regular customers in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. The list is long. I hope you will continue to visit us. To the interior designers and architects, who always refer their customers to us, I'm forever grateful.
The close of 2010 comes with a surprise email from a musician in New York, who discovers our blog and enquired whether we can help her ship our vintage retro/midcentury bed frames there. Below is her email.

Hello Second Charm!
My name is Erin Hall, and I'm a musician and lover of mid century danish furniture. I recently purchased a new bed, however, with one large problem-- it is a queen, and I haven't seen very many mid century bed frames in the queen size...until finding your blog!
Could you please tell me the price for danish/teak queen sized mid century bed frames? And their cost to ship to the USA? I'm located in New York, NY.
Thank you so much for your time, and Happy New Year!!!
Sincerely,
~Erin Hall
