Dear All
I've been meaning to share with you some of the reupholstered furniture that some of us have done at SECOND CHARM. I really enjoy seeing the transformation of the pieces, from the original preloved states to their new lease of life existence. It is a delightful sight to see the creative imagination at play, the fun in doing it and the joy at the result. Reupholstered furniture brings out the creative flair in us, allows a display of our taste and gives a stamp of individuality to the pieces that we have chosen to be part of our lives.
Below are some of those transformed pieces. We still have quite a few sofas, chairs and armchairs at SECOND CHARM, waiting for that creative someone to take up the fun of reupholstery.
My favourite piece. Michelle, who bought it, brought in her own fabric. She could see ahead of how beautiful the piece could be once reupholstered. Below is the original sofa. Someone who saw this newly upholstered 2-seater, immediately bought the matching 3-seater.
A vintage 1970's armchair fully restored and reupholstered. Wai Leng who bought it digged the piece from among the stacks of chairs that we have at SECOND CHARM , KL.
A retro 1960's-70 wooden armchairs with vintage cushion covers. The fabric is from SECOND CHARM. At one time, we have quite a good choice of real vintage upholstery fabric. Those who recognised the rarity of it, actually bought in bales from us.
A retro 1960's-70's teak dining chairs. 4 pieces. Bought by Lissa who runs a high end F & B outlet in the exclusive part of KL. She chose olive colour PVC, as seen below.
A mahogany chaise lounge, newly upholstered for Puan Nazariah in KL. She has been buying quite a few of the french sofas, wing chairs and retro chairs from us and bringing in her own fabrics to furnish her country home at Sungai Pencala and her resort at Trengganu.
A pair of modern sofas, in cream and off white PVC bought by Arielle, an expat based in KL. Below is the same sofas in choice of her own fabric.
Her choice of brightly coloured fabric is really fun to see and makes you want to experiment with different types of fabric.
A modern sofa bought by Satya. Originally the fabric was dull cream plain colour. Her choice of bold red and black is really exciting.
Choice of cotton fabric with English roses which gives the piece a country furniture look. Available.
A plain wing chair is transformed into a beautiful country style furniture. English rose cotton fabric. Sold to a young female doctor in Kuala Lumpur.
Newly upholstered furniture. Monica, a well known make up artist, who bought them, brought in her own fabric to mix and match. All the pieces are from different eras, brought together by the creative taste of the artist. The modern sofa was originally bright yellow in colour. The 60's retro stool was originally in red PVC and the vintage 1940's chair was originally in maroon red.
Though the colour is not much different, the sofa is given a new lease of life with new foams. The fabric also gives it a new contemporary look. Bought by Sharon to furnish her new boutique in Malacca.
A modern chair reupholstered. Originally in orange fabric. The legs were rusty. We chromed them for Arielle, an expat in Kuala Lumpur
The same set above in new fabric of choice by Khalid who works for Malaysian Airlines. Khalid creatively played with the fabric different sides to create different shades to the cushions, even the tuft buttons!
This much for now on the reupholstered furniture. Will post more as they come along.
Warmest regards
Sharifah
